What are the responsibilities and job description for the POOL MANAGER position at Walnut Creek Country Club Inc.?
Essential Duties:
- Supervise and mentor a staff of 10-15 lifeguards
- Schedule staff and anticipate coverage needs including staff reductions due to school schedules
- Interview, hire, and orient new lifeguards
- Maintain effective member relations ensuring safety for everyone
- Test for proper chemical levels in the pool
- Ensure that the pool is clean and that clubhouse and pool deck are clean and inviting to members
- Work lifeguard shifts as needed
- Oversee in-service training and safety auditing programs
- Prepare pool for annual county inspection
- Enforce all policies, rules, and regulations
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Partner with culinary, beverage, and events teams to deliver seamless poolside dining, activities, and special experiences.
- We will on occasion call for everyone on the team to, on a routine basis perform various related tasks as needed in the spirit of providing exceptional member service
- Maintain sanitary conditions of all other facilities within the pool area including bathrooms, snack bar and pool deck
- Perform other work as assigned by management or supervisors to ensure the safety and cleanliness of the pool facility
Emergency/Medical Duties
Effectively monitor the pool area to prevent injuries and provide care as necessary.
- Examine injured persons and administer first aid or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, if necessary, using training, medical supplies and equipment.
- Contact emergency medical personnel in case of serious injury.
- Rescue distressed persons, using American Red Cross rescue techniques and equipment.
- Maintain incident report logs Requirements:
- Current certification in Lifeguard, CPR for Professional Rescuer, First Aid/AED (to be obtained prior to start)
- Excellent Communication and Organizational Skills
- Must be able to maintain control and handle emergency situations and deal effectively and courteously with the members
- Possession of a valid Driver’s License and have reliable transportation
- Must be willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed (flexible schedule)
- Work closely with the WCCC Director of Operations including weekly attendance of management meetings
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Previous administrative experience a plus
- Or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Timeframe: Limited duties will begin in early May 2026 to prepare the pool for annual inspection. The expectation is that a manager will work approximately 40hrs/week during pool season with 90% of those hours worked on site Wednesday through Sunday. Note: Pool season officially runs from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend; limited hours the weekends prior to Memorial Day and the weekends after Labor Day.
