Field Sales Coordinator – TellX
$15.00/hour
Full-time, Part-time
Texas
Perfect for College Students & Recent Grads
About TellX
TellX is an innovative software solution designed to help small food manufacturers and local producers strengthen customer loyalty, gather real-time feedback, and grow their business with ease. We provide simple, smart technology that empowers small food businesses to compete in today's digital marketplace. We're expanding across Texas and need motivated, people-centered representatives to bring TellX to the businesses that feed our communities.
About the Role
We're seeking energetic college students and recent graduates for a Field Sales Executive position. This is a field-based sales role where you'll visit farmers markets, local farms, specialty food shops, and independent grocery stores throughout Texas to introduce and promote TellX. If you thrive on meeting new people, showcasing meaningful products, and supporting small businesses, this role is for you.
This position offers flexible scheduling to accommodate class schedules, with both full-time (40 hours/week) and part-time (20-30 hours/week) options available. No prior sales experience required – we provide complete training.
Responsibilities
You will be responsible for visiting small businesses in your assigned territory to introduce and promote TellX. This includes conducting product demonstrations where you clearly communicate TellX's features, benefits, and value to business owners. You'll build and maintain friendly, professional relationships with owners, managers, and vendors while identifying opportunities, overcoming objections, and closing sales with confidence.
You'll represent TellX at farmers markets, food fairs, and community business events, typically 2-3 per month. An important part of your role is providing real-time feedback to the team on customer needs and product improvements. You'll be expected to meet with 5-10 prospects daily, maintain accurate records in our CRM system, and achieve monthly sales targets.
What You'll Be Selling
TellX is a simple software platform that helps small food businesses strengthen customer loyalty and gather real-time feedback. The platform is designed for non-technical users, takes minutes to set up, and helps businesses grow through better customer insights. Your typical customers will be farmers market vendors, local farms, artisan food producers, specialty food shops, bakeries, food trucks, and independent grocery stores across Texas.
Compensation
The position pays $15.00 per hour, which equates to approximately $31,200 annually for full-time employees. Performance bonuses and commission opportunities are available for meeting and exceeding sales targets. We provide mileage reimbursement at the IRS standard rate for all business travel, a monthly phone/data stipend, and all necessary sales materials and demo equipment including an iPad for presentations.
Paid time off is available after the eligibility period, and we offer comprehensive paid training during your first two weeks.
Requirements
You must be currently enrolled in college or a recent graduate (within 2 years of graduation) with a high school diploma or equivalent. A valid Texas driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable personal vehicle with current insurance are required, as this role involves daily travel of 50-150 miles within your territory.
You need a smartphone for business communication and CRM access, and must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Availability to work some weekend events at farmers markets and food fairs (2-3 per month) is required.
You should be a proactive, energetic communicator who enjoys being face-to-face with customers. Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills are essential, along with the ability to conduct live demos and simplify technical tools for non-technical audiences. You must be comfortable working independently, traveling locally to meet with clients frequently, and maintaining a professional demeanor.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, experience selling into the food industry (FMCG, food manufacturing, food ingredients, consumer packaged goods, etc.) is a plus. Previous customer service experience in retail, restaurant, or hospitality settings is beneficial. Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish) are strongly encouraged to apply. Most importantly, we're looking for people with a genuine passion for supporting small businesses and local producers.
Work Environment and Schedule
This is a field-based position where you'll work out in the community, not behind a desk. You'll spend your time visiting small food businesses, attending farmers markets, and representing TellX at local food events. The role requires driving 50-150 miles per day within a 50-75 mile radius of your home base.
Core business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with flexible start and end times that can accommodate class schedules. Weekend availability is required for farmers markets and food fairs, typically 2-3 events per month lasting 4-6 hours speaking with farmers and making connections in the industry
Training and Performance Expectations
New hires complete a comprehensive two-week training program covering TellX product knowledge, demonstration techniques, sales strategies for the food industry, territory management, and CRM usage. You'll shadow experienced team members before working independently. Ongoing support includes weekly team meetings, regular coaching sessions with your manager, and access to sales resources and training materials.
During your first 60 days, you'll be expected to complete training, make contact with 50 prospects in the food industry, conduct 20 demonstrations, and close your first 3-5 sales. After the initial training period, monthly expectations include conducting 25 business visits per week, delivering 10-15 demonstrations per week, maintaining a pipeline of 30 active prospects, and closing 10-15 new clients per month.
Why You'll Love This Role
You'll help small businesses grow using an easy, impactful tool that makes a real difference in their operations. You'll work out in the community meeting food makers, farmers, and local entrepreneurs rather than sitting behind a desk. You'll build genuine relationships with people who are passionate about their craft and their communities. This role offers the opportunity to gain valuable sales experience while supporting the local food economy and the small businesses that feed our communities.
