The salary for this position may be paid fully or partially from federal funds. Federally funded positions are supplemental, and therefore subject to availability of federal funds.
Primary Purpose: The Instructional Coach provides leadership in the coordination and delivery of services, which will include designing, planning, and modeling lessons. This person will provide instructional support to campuses in implementing programs designed to meet the needs of all students. They will assist the district in the development of instructional initiatives, staff development, curriculum writing, technology implementation, data disaggregation, and data interpretation.
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree in education or related field required
Master’s degree preferred
Valid Texas teaching certificate required
Valid Texas ESL certification preferred
Experience:
At least five years of successful teaching experience in assigned area
Evidence of district/campus leadership
Experience in development, preparation, and presentation of professional development preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of curriculum, state assessments, and lesson design in assigned area

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Lead intensive coaching cycles for teachers serving students identified as at-risk, economically disadvantaged, or in federally targeted subgroups.
- Design and implement supplemental small-group instruction plans in collaboration with teachers to address unfinished learning and accelerate progress.
- Serve as a content area specialist to assist in the development and implementation of campus instructional plans that align to district goals and curriculum.
- Analyze student performance data to identify instructional trends, subgroup gaps, and guide instructional support decisions.
- Provide job-embedded professional learning to help teachers close achievement gaps.
- Facilitate campus PLCs, using data to collaboratively plan instruction and intervention to meet student needs.
- Model differentiated instruction and intervention strategies to increase student growth and achievement.
- Provide job-embedded professional development for teachers through modeling engaging, standards-based teaching aligned to student needs.
- Assist in the development of scope and sequence for the content area grade levels.
- Coordinate with campus leadership teams to align supplemental instructional practices with comprehensive needs assessments and improvement plans.
- Assist in the development of assessments to measure student knowledge and skills for content areas grade levels.
- Conduct teacher observations and/or walk-throughs and provide feedback that facilitates teacher reflection and growth on an ongoing basis.
- Manage and distribute instructional and supplemental resources to teachers and provide training on the use of those resources.
- Collaborate with family engagement teams to create home-learning supports and trainings aligned with supplemental instructional goals.
- Encourage and support the implementation of technology and innovative strategies in the classroom.
- Attend district level training and provide campus level professional development in district initiatives.
- Assist with the implementation and monitoring of campus and district initiatives.
- Attend campus and district meetings/training as assigned.
- Provide enrichment and extension planning support for students demonstrating accelerated growth due to supplemental intervention, ensuring they remain challenged.
