Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments in specialties such as dermatology, internal medicine, urgent care, hospital medicine, and emergency medicine.
- Take and record vital signs accurately; perform basic patient assessments including physiology and anatomy knowledge.
- Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort; perform phlebotomy and medication administration as directed.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), ensuring precise medical documentation, coding (including ICD coding), and updating medical records efficiently.
- Support medical office operations by scheduling appointments, managing patient intake processes, verifying insurance information, and handling administrative tasks.
- Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment while adhering to safety protocols; support hospital experience requirements such as emergency response readiness and hospital medicine protocols.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Medical Assistant with a strong background in medical office management and clinical support roles.
- Knowledge of dermatology, emergency medicine, inpatient care, outpatient services, geriatrics, medical-surgical practices, and internal medicine is highly desirable.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy certification or radiology training are a plus.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for accurate documentation; understanding of ICD coding and medical terminology essential.
- Ability to perform clinical tasks including vital signs collection, medication administration, procedure assistance, and specimen collection (phlebotomy).
- Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach; ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations.
- Strong organizational skills to manage medical records, documentation accuracy, and clinic workflows efficiently.
