Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for blood collection by explaining procedures clearly and answering any questions to ease anxiety.
- Collect blood specimens using venipuncture techniques or skin puncture methods, following strict safety and hygiene protocols.
- Label and process specimens accurately to prevent errors and ensure proper testing.
- Maintain a clean, organized work environment by disinfecting equipment and disposing of biohazardous waste properly.
- Assist with patient registration, verify identification, and document collection details thoroughly.
- Assist with medical assisting taking vitals, entering patient information, ekgs
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure timely transportation of specimens for analysis.
- Follow all safety guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to protect yourself and patients at all times.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) or similar credential is highly preferred.
- Proven experience in blood collection or clinical laboratory settings is advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure specimen integrity and accurate documentation.
- Excellent communication skills to comfort patients and coordinate effectively with team members.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive motions, and work efficiently under pressure.
- Knowledge of safety standards, infection control procedures, and biohazard handling regulations.
