Job Summary
An Accounts Payable Clerk performs highly responsible activities related to the purchasing operation of the college, under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of high diploma or equivalent; one year of postsecondary education with 15 semester hours in related field preferred.
- Two years of non-profit fund accounting experience preferred.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and administrative computing systems.
- Must have good interpersonal skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.
- Must have knowledge of standard accounts payable policies, procedures, and regulations, general accounting principles, mathematics, and the ability to analyze and solve problems.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review and process purchase order requests daily in accordance with State Board policy, state laws and federal laws, including the bid law.
- Obtain information for completion of purchase orders, including verification of prices, conditions of sale, and signatures.
- Create and/or assign purchase order number and vendor codes.
- Encumber funds, print purchase orders, and distribute them to appropriate departments.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned, required, or directed by the College. The College reserves the right to assign additional tasks and to alter or reassign job duties as necessary to meet business and operational needs.
- In order to perform these essential functions, the Accounts Payable Clerk must be present at work. Therefore, attendance is an essential job function.
SALARY: Appropriate placement on WSCC Local Salary Schedule L, at 18 hours per week.
