Job Description
- Position Title: LABORER(full or part time)
- Job Summary:
The LABORER position is responsible for assisting in the maintenance of township roads and facilities. Work involves heavy manual labor performed under all types of weather conditions. Supervision received is of an immediate nature. This position can be for either Walker Township or Walker Township Municipal Authority, or both.
- Duties and Responsibilities
- Load & unload materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Set out cones and barricades for work done near roadways.
- Flag traffic – flagger’s training certification
- Use pick, shovel, and other tools in water, wastewater and roadway system maintenance.
- Assist more skilled workers as trade helper at times.
- Lift, move, and store equipment, materials, and supplies.
- Clean shop and garage as ordered.
- Perform some grounds maintenance work, lawn restoration, and cutting of grass.
- Assist in the keeping of simple records.
- Assist in any necessary road system maintenance and repairs, including surfacing, drainage, grading, ditch concerns, signs, reflectors, construction, and safety markings.
- Snow plowing, driving in extreme weather conditions.
- Learn and adapt to operating any and all Township and Authority equipment as requested.
- Attend training classes as necessary.
- Maintain daily communications with Road Master, Authority’s Water operator, Board of Supervisors and Authority Board.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance.
- Recognize, analyze and react to day to day situation with discretion and judgment, and confer with supervisors as necessary.

- Qualifications
- Current CDL Class B license required with airbrake endorsement is preferred
- Flagger’s training certification
- Ability to do heavy manual labor under varied working conditions.
- Ability to assist more skilled workers as assigned.
- Ability to read simple instructions and keep simple records.
- Ability to lift a minimum of seventy-five (75) pounds.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
