Ferguson Township is seeking a dynamic, community-focused Assistant Township Manager for a two-year appointment to support the Township Manager in overseeing municipal operations, advancing innovation and equity, and ensuring effective delivery of services.

This position plays a key leadership role in strategic initiatives, community engagement, and day-to-day administration while serving as Acting Township Manager when needed.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the Township Manager in policies, procedures, and administration.
  • Lead strategic planning, performance management, and equity initiatives.
  • Oversee assigned staff, including the Communications Coordinator.
  • Manage Township communications and ensure transparency.
  • Collaborate on budget development, financial analysis, and grant management.
  • Represent the Township at public meetings and community events.
  • Coordinate interdepartmental projects, IT initiatives, and organizational development.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Master's in Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's 3 years progressive local government experience required (or equivalent).
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to navigate community dynamics with political acumen and sound judgment.
  • Commitment to equity, innovation, and continuous improvement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The position is primarily office-based, with occasional outdoor site visits and community events. Evening and weekend hours may be required to attend meetings or special functions.

TERM OF APPOINTMENT: This is a two-year term position with Ferguson Township. Continuation beyond the initial appointment will be subject to Township needs and future staffing considerations.
