A Baker prepares a variety of baked goods and places them onto pans and sheets to be placed in the oven for baking. A Baker gathers ingredients to measure and mix, operates equipment, and keeps work surfaces and equipment sanitary and clean. They are responsible for learning and maintaining food preparation, kitchen equipment and kitchen utensil knowledge. The position must be able to work in all assigned areas and assist other kitchen members with food production and preparation. Essential Functions:
- Must be able to operate machines and equipment such as mixer, slicer, ovens, etc.
- Follow proper instructions for recipes and be able to mix, measure, and combine ingredients accurately for each recipe and check the overall quality throughout the baking process.
- Decorate baked goods by applying icings, toppings, and glaze to achieve a professional appearance.
- Be creative with decorating ideas and when crafting new pastries.
- Ability to do all open and closing duties within the bakery.
Required:
- Minimum 6 months experience
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, personal protective equipment, and Department of Health regulations for sanitation.
- Ability to do basic math skills for weighing and mixing ingredients accurately and precisely.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Certification from a culinary school preferred.
