What are the responsibilities and job description for the Exercise Specialist position at Walker Physical Therapy?
Our busy physical therapy clinic is seeking an EXPERIENCED Full Time Exercise Specialist. Candidates with a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology or Exercise Science and who also have related experience will take priority.
We are seeking a self-motivated, dependable, and conscientious individual. Ideal candidate will have a positive "can-do" attitude. Qualified candidates should be able to work and thrive both on their own initiative and in a team environment.
Job duties include (but are not limited to):
transporting patients to and from treatment areas, motivating and assisting patients with therapist appointed exercises under supervision of therapists, helping patients work towards functional goals, securing patients into or onto exercise machines and ensuring their safety while performing exercises, applying modalities such as heat, ice, whirlpool, and e-stim, cleaning all equipment and work areas after treatment, recording treatment specifics on exercise flowsheets, maintaining office cleanliness and order throughout the day, clearly communicating patient statuses or issues with therapists, tracking and ordering of necessary inventory, etc.

excellent customer service skills, knowledge of anatomy, understanding proper vs. improper exercise techniques, ability to build group morale, ability to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness, ability to balance individual responsibilities and team commitments, strong communication skills, ability to maintain patient confidentiality, ability to support and explain reasoning behind decisions, ability to prioritize, meet productivity standards and use time efficiently, and the ability to follow appropriate legal and ethical professional conduct.
