Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC water jet cutting machines to produce precise parts according to detailed blueprints and specifications
- Program water jet equipment using CAD/CAM software, ensuring optimal cutting paths and material utilization
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards to meet exacting quality requirements
- Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and inspections of CNC water jet systems to ensure peak performance and safety compliance
- Utilize hand tools, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments for quality inspection and verification of finished parts
- Collaborate with fabrication teams on material handling using forklifts or cranes when necessary for sheet metal or large components
- Maintain detailed records of production runs, machine settings, and inspection results to support continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Proven experience operating CNC water jet cutting machines or similar CNC equipment such as laser cutters, plasma cutters, or CNC milling machines
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages and software (e.g., CAD/CAM) with the ability to modify programs as needed
- Familiarity with blueprint reading, GD&T standards, and precision measurement tools like micrometers and calipers
- Mechanical aptitude with understanding of tooling setups, fabrication processes, and machining techniques
- Ability to work safely with heavy machinery including forklifts and cranes; certification in forklift operation is a plus
- Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, and material quantities accurately
- Knowledge of related manufacturing processes such as welding, electrical discharge machining (EDM), stamping presses, or press brake operations is advantageous
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality inspection and adherence to safety protocols
