FUNCTION: Create a professional and pleasant atmosphere for customers; ensure smooth operation of register procedures, policies, and paperwork.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Must have complete understanding of register procedures, policies, and paperwork.
2. Closes the register at the end of business hours as scheduled
3.Operates the register on a regular basis.
4. Ability to accurately handle transaction and counting back of change.
5. Answers the telephone promptly with a smile; connects callers with the proper department or ensures that a message is taken.
6. Ensures friendly customer service with a smile.
7.Promotes the opening of charge accounts and gift card purchases.
8. Makes proper documentation on checks received for payment. Ensures company policy is followed on all checks received.
9. Collects correct information when processing all charge purchases.
10. Handles all register procedures in a courteous and friendly manner.
11. Removes security devices from purchased merchandise. Aids in preventing shoplifting and internal shrinkage.
12. Checks packages brought into the store.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High School Degree
TRAITS: Pleasant, congenial, accurate, efficient, flexible and trustworthy. Pleasant telephone etiquette; good mathematical skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB: The physical demands listed are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the job: Required to stand, walk, talk or hear, use hands and have ability to reach overhead. Regular lifting or moving of up to 5lbs, possible up to 25lbs. Requires bending, stooping, and ability to climb stairs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus and ability to write, count, and read required shipping/ company paperwork.
