Emergency Service Worker Statement
In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

Primary Duties
- Fabricate, install, and maintain signage, including street name signs and corporate signage.
- Operate specialized equipment such as Utility Bed Sign Truck, Post Driver, CNC Router, vinyl plotter, UV Flatbed Printer. pressure-sensitive laminator, sheet metal brake, and shearer.
- Collect field data and maintain databases for the Road Sign program using Wake County GIS Map Application, MS365 Access, and Excel; collaborate with the GIS department to troubleshoot signage issues.
- Design and produce signage using FlexiSign and EnRoute software.
- Ensure all signage fabrication and installation complies with Wake County standards and federal/state guidelines, including FHWA, MUTCD, and ADA.
- Create custom designs and graphic overlays for presentations to county departments, municipalities, and vendors; reformat designs as needed for approval, fabrication, or promotional purposes.
- Complete administrative tasks such as timesheets in Dayforce and material/labor entries in IBM Maximo EAM software.
- Update files, reports, and documents per request.
- Correspond with municipalities and counties as needed; serve as a liaison for Wake County.
- Assist with emergency response operations during inclement weather events (e.g., snow and ice, hurricanes, tornadoes)

Required
The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
- High school diploma or GED
- Three years of experience in digital layout, sign fabrication, or installation
- A valid driver's license and a "safe" driving record required.
- Equivalent education and experience are accepted

- Five years of experience in fabricating and installing street name signs, corporate signage, and ADA-compliant signage.
- Thorough knowledge of current ADA, MUTCD, and FHWA guidelines.
- Proficiency in CNC operation, digital printing, and vinyl graphics.
- Proficient in sign graphics fabrication equipment.
- Skilled in sign design, layout, fabrication, and installation.
- Experienced with FlexiSign, EnRoute, Bluebeam Revu, MS365, and AutoCAD; other design tools a plus.
- Able to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.
- Capable of managing and analyzing data for asset management systems.
- Strong understanding of ratios, proportions, and measurements.
- Knowledge of OSHA workplace safety and proper PPE use.
- Uses sound judgment and follows detailed instructions.
- Detail‑oriented with strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
- Works independently to meet deadlines and budget expectations.
- Builds effective working relationships with colleagues and the public.
