Emergency Service Worker Statement
In the event of an emergency, as determined by the County Manager or designee, participation in preparedness and response operations should be expected. Employee may be required to fill a temporary assignment in a role different from standard duties, work hours and/or work location in preparation for, during and after the emergency. Employee may also be required to participate in relevant exercises and regular preparedness training.

- Ensure the Wake County Sheriff’s Office consistently meets and exceeds national accreditation standards established by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA)
- Manage, coordinate and document all compliance activities so the agency is fully prepared for accreditation assessments
- Provide analytical, administrative and organizational leadership to maintain high-quality practices, strengthen operational accountability and support continuous improvement
- Represent the agency in statewide accreditation and law-enforcement compliance forums, including NCLEAN, to align local practices with broader professional standards

Required
The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
- Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice, Public Safety or related degree
- Two years of experience in a criminal justice, public safety or similar setting
- Equivalent education and experience are accepted

- Current experience working with PowerDMS
- Ability to maintain accreditation files, directives and proofs of compliance in PowerDMS
- Ability to assist staff with accreditation tasks, documentation and deadlines
- Ability to review standards and agency directives to ensure compliance
- Ability to support policy research and annual policy review
- Ability to track time-sensitive accreditation requirements and review submitted documentation
- Ability to participate in accreditation assessments, inspections and audits
- Ability to attend CALEA and NCLEAN training and stay current on accreditation updates
- Ability to interpret law enforcement and criminal justice materials
- Knowledge of law enforcement operations and administrative practices
- Excellent written, organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
