Senior Tax Accountant

Position Overview
We are a growing CPA firm in Wilmington, Ohio seeking an experienced Senior Tax Accountant to join our team. This position will focus primarily on individual and business taxation and is ideal for an experienced tax professional who enjoys working directly with clients and providing high-quality tax compliance and advisory services.
Experience with agricultural and farm taxation is a major plus, as the firm serves clients in the farming and agricultural community.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local income tax returns for individuals and businesses.
- Prepare and review Forms 1040, 1065, 1120, and 1120-S.
- Prepare and review farm and agricultural tax filings, including Schedule F returns.
- Work with closely held businesses, business owners, farmers, and high-net-worth individuals.
- Perform year-round tax planning and identify tax-saving opportunities.
- Research complex tax issues and apply current federal and state tax laws.
- Review client financial information and supporting tax documentation.
- Communicate directly with clients regarding tax matters, planning opportunities, and information requests.
- Assist clients with IRS and state tax notices and other tax authority correspondence.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to staff accountants and tax preparers.
- Maintain accurate and organized workpapers and client files.
- Collaborate with firm leadership to provide responsive, high-quality client service.
Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Enrolled Agent (EA) required.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Significant experience preparing individual and business income tax returns.
- Experience with farm and agricultural taxation and Schedule F filings is a major plus.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state income taxation.
- Experience with partnerships, S corporations, and closely held businesses.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple client engagements and deadlines during tax season.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Experience with professional tax preparation software and QuickBooks is preferred.
