We are seeking an accomplished attorney to join our collaborative, mostly remote team and handle a diverse and impactful caseload.
Description of the Position
We are looking for a highly experienced litigator eager for a challenging, high-autonomy role. This position offers the chance to manage a full-service civil litigation practice, taking the lead on complex cases from inception through trial.
Core Responsibilities Include:
- Lead Complex Civil Litigation: Independently manage a challenging caseload of 35-45 matters, including disputes related to breach of contract, real estate, construction defects, and employment law.
- Full Scope Litigation Practice: Take responsibility for all phases of litigation, including drafting sophisticated pleadings, conducting and defending depositions, developing and responding to discovery, conducting in-depth legal research, and writing persuasive motions.
- Courtroom Advocacy: Actively engage in court appearances, arguing motions, and participating as a key member of the trial team.
- Client & Case Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, provide exemplary service with prompt response times, interview witnesses, and develop strategic legal thinking to achieve successful outcomes.
- Negotiation and Resolution: Negotiate complex settlements and represent clients in mediations and arbitrations.
- Commitment to Excellence: Fulfill an annual billable hour requirement of approximately 1800 annually hours while maintaining the highest level of professionalism and legal acumen.
Qualifications
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented attorney ready to take ownership of a significant portfolio of cases.
- Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience as a licensed attorney is required.
- Licensure: Must be an active member in good standing of the California State Bar.
- Remote Work Proficiency: Demonstrated experience working in a remote environment with the self-motivation and discipline necessary to manage a full-time, independent practice.
- Tech Savvy: Ability to efficiently navigate and utilize multiple internal web-based platforms, including Dropbox, Practice Panther, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Advocacy Skills: Strong desire and demonstrable ability to lead courtroom appearances, argue motions, and participate in trials and hearings.
- Legal Acumen: Exceptional academic credentials, superior analytical, problem-solving skills, and a deep knowledge of the Code of Civil Procedure.
- Professional Skills: Exemplary client service skills, strong drafting and negotiation abilities, and the capacity to clearly communicate complex legal subject matter to non-attorneys.
- Work Style: Proven ability to manage a high-volume workload independently, meeting critical firm and court deadlines.
- Courtroom Experience: Direct courtroom and trial experience is preferred, but we will consider highly qualified candidates who demonstrate a strong desire and aptitude for advocacy.
