What are the responsibilities and job description for the Orthopaedic Office Receptionist and Scribe position at Wabash General Hospital?
The receptionist is the core of the department. The department depends on the front office receptionist for efficient, smooth operation of patient flow and optimal patient experience. The receptionist will be responsible to all intake information, patient demographics, insurance validation, and follow-up scheduling and entering information into the medical record. Steady, frequent phone calls from patients, families, physicians, and referral specialists need prompt attention, kindness, and confidence. The receptionist will communicate frequently with clinical staff and physicians regarding patient needs. Receptionists may circulate positions from greeter, to check-in, to check-out, and may be required to rotate to satellite offices.
As a transcriptionist (scribe) you will document the dictated patient history, including history of present illness, review of systems, past medical and surgical histories, family and social histories, medications and allergies. Scribes document physical examination findings and procedures as performed by the provider. Scribes document the results of laboratory and radiographic studies as dictated by the provider. Scribes document the correct time of patient care related activities, including provider to provider
communication, family communication and re-examinations of the patient.
Requirements:
- High school graduate.
- 2 years' experience in clinical physician office practice.
- Eager to help others and highly organized.
- Excellent computer literacy.
- Willing to travel in a 5-county radius of Wabash General Hospital-Main Campus.
- Works well under pressure.
- Maintain and demonstrate an understanding of the team approach to patient care and documentation.
- Complete and present the medical record in collaboration with the supervising provider.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings.
- Be responsive to improvement opportunities in a positive manner.
- Communicate in a professional and respectful manner to the supervising provider, ancillary hospital staff,
and patients.
