The Clinical Nurse Educator RN partners with departmental leadership to identify, design, and implement staff education programs that enhance clinical practice and improve patient outcomes. This role serves as a primary resource for clinical education, competency development, and evidence-based practice, ensuring staff are equipped with the knowledge and skills to deliver exceptional care. In addition, the position supports Wabash General Hospital's mission and strategic vision by integrating patient experience principles into education initiatives and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to meet or exceed patient satisfaction goals as measured by HCAHPS and other quality indicators.
The Clinical Nurse Educator RN is a registered nurse who demonstrates exemplary patient care and is accountable for formal and informal staff education and orientation. This includes working with the team to identify learning needs, develop and implement educational strategies, and participate in learning effectiveness evaluation, adhering to the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice of Processional Nursing and the Code of Ethics. The nurse reflects the mission, vision, and values of WGH, adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinates and participates in unit-specific orientation processes.
- Integrates theoretical knowledge, evidence-based practice principles, and clinical expertise in nursing practice into education experiences.
- Develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates formal and informal education of staff.
- Develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates annual job-specific clinical skills validation and competency evaluation.
The Clinical Nurse Educator RN champions the education and patient experience processes at WGH. The nurse reviews and understands NRC data and uses the data to provide in-depth, proactive consultation, coaching, and strategies to directors and staff. This position assists leadership in the development of action plans to improve performance; researchers, reviews, and implements best practices for patient experience. Assists in finding patients with access to care issues and facilities in removing barriers. Handles patient/family complaints and resolutions in relation to patient experience. Follows all policies and procedures as established by WGH for patient care and confidentiality.

Experience
Required- Minimum of five (5) years of clinical nursing experience required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required.
- Master's degree in Nursing with Clinical Nurse Specialist focus preferred.
Education
Required- Bachelors or better in Nursing
