We are seeking an experienced Water Resources Senior Project Manager to join our Water Resources team in our Chantilly, VA office. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Director of Water Resources to oversee team operations, manage diverse projects, and contribute to the continued growth and excellence of our water resources practice.
This role requires a technically strong, hands-on leader with proven experience managing a wide range of water resources projects, as well as mentoring and guiding project managers and design engineers. The selected individual will play a key role in QA/QC, contract management, business development, and client relationship management.

Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and review stormwater management concept plans and construction documents.
- Conduct and review hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) models for floodplain and dam analyses.
- Review technical reports, permit applications, and project documentation.
- Perform QA/QC of construction documents, permit applications, certifications, and other deliverables.
- Research and apply relevant regulatory codes, manuals, and standards.
- Manage projects, clients, schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers and project managers.
- Coordinate with internal departments, external partners, and regulatory agencies.
- Meet with regulators to address comments and facilitate project approvals.
- Lead construction administration and oversee design implementation.
- Manage contract-related tasks, including proposals, additional work authorizations, billing, and negotiations.
- Support business development efforts and contribute to the growth of the firm's water resources practice.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Virginia, with the ability to obtain licensure in other states as needed.
- 10 years of professional experience in water resources engineering.
- Proven experience managing engineering teams and multiple concurrent projects.
- Strong background in stormwater management, floodplain studies, and dam design within Virginia; additional experience in Maryland and DC preferred.
- Excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and quality control abilities with keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in H&H modeling software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HEC-1, HY-8, and Flowmaster.
- Ability to adapt to and work within various regulatory frameworks and jurisdictions.
- Proficiency with ArcMap or similar GIS software.
- Experience with AutoCAD.
- Previous experience in a design consulting environment with a focus on stormwater (surface runoff) and hydrology/hydraulics-not water/wastewater design.
