The technologist will be responsible for obtaining high-quality diagnostic images while following established protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations, including general and vascular studies, according to physician orders and established protocols.
- Prepare, position, and communicate with patients throughout examinations.
- Operate ultrasound equipment safely and effectively to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
- Accurately document procedures and relevant information in the electronic medical record.
- Collaborate with physicians and other clinical staff to support efficient patient care.
- Explain examination procedures to patients and address questions in a professional and compassionate manner.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe imaging environment.
- Perform routine equipment checks and report equipment issues as needed.
- Assist with scheduling and other operational tasks related to imaging services.
- Follow applicable clinical, regulatory, safety, and practice guidelines.
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all patient interactions.
- Formal education and training in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Radiologic Technology, or a related accredited program.
- Applicable professional credentials such as ARDMS and/or ARRT with relevant sonography or radiology credentials.
- Demonstrated clinical experience performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations.
- Strong knowledge of general and vascular ultrasound techniques.
- Ability to operate ultrasound equipment safely and acquire accurate, high-quality diagnostic images.
- Prior experience in an outpatient, medical practice, or clinical healthcare setting.
- Strong patient care and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with physicians, clinical staff, and patients.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Ability to follow established protocols, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience performing a broad range of diagnostic ultrasound studies in an outpatient setting.
- Additional relevant ARDMS or ARRT specialty credentials.
- Experience with vascular ultrasound examinations.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/EMR) and clinical documentation systems.
- Experience assisting with scheduling, equipment checks, or other imaging department operations.
- Strong understanding of clinical workflows and regulatory requirements in an outpatient healthcare environment.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining effective collaboration with the broader clinical team.
