We are seeking an experienced Title Examiner / Abstractor to join our team in a fully remote capacity. This role is responsible for conducting detailed title searches, examining property records, and preparing accurate title commitments for real estate transactions within Nodaway County, Missouri.
The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of title insurance processes, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to independently evaluate and resolve title issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive title searches and examine chain of title for residential and commercial properties
- Analyze public records including deeds, mortgages, liens, judgments, easements, plats, and legal descriptions
- Identify, review, and resolve title defects such as gaps, encumbrances, or conflicting information
- Prepare and review title commitments, including requirements and exceptions
- Conduct research related to foreclosures, probate, and estate matters
- Examine ownership history involving wills, trusts, and intestacy laws
- Communicate effectively with lenders, real estate agents, buyers, and sellers to ensure smooth transactions
- Ensure compliance with Missouri title insurance regulations and company standards
- Prepare accurate reports and maintain high-quality documentation
- Provide basic underwriting support within established guidelines
- Minimum 2 years of experience in title insurance, including title search and examination
- Active Missouri Title Insurance License (required)
- Strong knowledge of:
- Title commitments
- Escrow and closing processes
- Real estate title terminology and legal descriptions
- Proven ability to analyze and resolve complex title issues
- High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard systems
- Experience with SoftPro Select or similar title production software
- Exposure to underwriting practices and guidelines
- Experience handling probate, foreclosure, or complex title scenarios
