Schedule: Monday-Friday | 7:45 AM-4:15 PM or 9:30 AM-6:00 PM| No weekends or on-call
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Substance Abuse Counselor to lead Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) group therapy sessions. This role provides both group and individual counseling for adults with substance use disorders while ensuring safety, recovery progress, and accurate documentation.

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Substance Abuse Counselor to lead Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) group therapy sessions. This role provides both group and individual counseling for adults with substance use disorders while ensuring safety, recovery progress, and accurate documentation.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate daily PHP/IOP group counseling using structured curriculum and therapeutic interventions
- Conduct individual counseling sessions as required by treatment plans
- Maintain attendance records and engage clients in active participation
- Manage behavioral expectations and maintain a supportive group environment
- Submit clinical documentation (progress notes, assessments, treatment plans, quarterly reports) within 24 business hours
- Support client safety and respond to emergency procedures
- Report behavioral or safety concerns appropriately
- Assist with case management and connection to community resources
- Attend meetings, trainings, and provide coverage as needed
- Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field with at least 1 year of experience,
- Preferred licensure: LPC, LPC-Eligible, LCSW, LCSW-Eligible, CSAC, or CSAC-S
- Valid Virginia driver's license & clean record
- CPR, First Aid & Behavior Modification certification required
- Ability to de-escalate crisis situations and work in a therapeutic group setting
- Strong documentation, communication, and organizational skills
- Experience supporting individuals with mental illness, addiction, or developmental disabilities
