Key Responsibilities
- Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality and food safety processes.
- Serve as a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) in support of the company's food safety program.
- Conduct testing and evaluations of raw materials and finished products.
- Ensure products meet established quality, functionality, reliability, and food safety specifications.
- Communicate quality standards and requirements across QA, Product Development, Operations, and other departments.
- Identify and investigate recurring quality issues, defects, and process problems.
- Conduct root cause investigations and support corrective and preventive actions.
- Track and maintain Corrective Action and Opportunity for Improvement (OFI) logs.
- Monitor products and processes to ensure customer requirements and quality standards are met.
- Support compliance with federal, state, local, and industry food safety regulations.
- Prepare for and participate in internal and external audits.
- Support the maintenance of certifications such as SQF, Kosher, Organic, and Non GMO.
- Establish quality requirements for raw materials and assist with supplier qualification and audits.
- Prepare, analyze, and distribute quality reports and data.
- Assist with employee training related to food quality and food safety.
- Maintain the product sample retain area and conduct shelf life studies.
- Perform calibration of thermometers and other critical equipment.
- Provide quality support to Operations through sample testing and product evaluations.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in quality and manufacturing processes.
- Promptly communicate actual or potential food safety concerns to management.
- Follow all company safety, food safety, and regulatory policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance, Food Safety, Food Manufacturing, or a related field.
- Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Food Technology, Food Science, or a related scientific discipline preferred.
- High school diploma required.
- Experience working in a food manufacturing or production environment strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety and quality systems.
- Experience with quality testing, audits, corrective actions, and root cause analysis preferred.
- PCQI experience or certification preferred.
- Familiarity with SQF, HACCP, GMP, Organic, Kosher, and Non GMO standards is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with Operations, Production, Product Development, suppliers, and other internal teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related software.
- Ability to stand and walk throughout the workday.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures, including refrigerated areas.
- Ability to work in wet floor environments.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds periodically.
