We are seeking an experienced Preconstruction Manager / Senior Construction Estimator to work closely with our Director of Business Development and ownership to identify bid opportunities, attend walkthroughs, develop highly detailed estimates, and support the submission and award of projects.
This role is responsible for accurate job costing, subcontractor coordination, and bid strategy support and plays a direct role in our ability to pursue and win work in Illinois, California, Florida, and additional markets.

Responsibilities
- Partner with the Director of Business Development to identify, evaluate, and pursue bid opportunities
- Attend site walkthroughs, pre-bid meetings, and scope reviews
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from plans, specifications, and scopes of work
- Develop comprehensive job cost estimates, including:
- Labor hours and production rates
- Materials and equipment
- Subcontractor scopes and pricing
- Leverage and expand an existing subcontractor and vendor network to support competitive bidding
- Coordinate with ownership, who will finalize overhead and profit, prior to bid submission
- Assist with bid packaging, presentation, and submission
- Support value engineering, scope clarification, and risk identification
- Maintain estimating templates, pricing databases, and historical cost data
- Support estimating standards and continuous improvement of preconstruction processes
- Assist us in qualifying to bid on projects in additional states, including California, Florida, Georgia, Ohio, Michigan, North Carolina, and other jurisdictions as required
- 5 years of experience in construction estimating and preconstruction
- Proven track record of producing accurate, detailed, defensible estimates
- Strong understanding of labor productivity, construction sequencing, constructability, and scope risk
- Established subcontractor and vendor relationships
- Experience collaborating with business development teams and ownership
- Proficiency in Excel (required); estimating software experience a plus
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work across multiple markets and project types
- Chicago market experience preferred; multi-state experience a plus
- Willingness and ability to take and pass required contractor or qualifying exams in California, Florida, and other states as we expand our bidding footprint
- Experience navigating state-specific construction requirements, licensing, or compliance is strongly preferred
- We will support coordination and timing related to required exams and qualifications
- 5 years of work experience with project bidding
