Position Overview

Our Client is seeking compassionate and licensed Optometrists (OD) for multiple opportunities throughout Arizona, New York, and Florida.

Both Full-Time and Part-Time positions are available, with opportunities for candidates seeking either Independent Contractor or Employee status.

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive eye care services within hospital-based clinics located inside government institutions, including correctional facilities, juvenile detention centers, county-operated healthcare facilities, U.S. military installations, and other institutional healthcare environments.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care

  • Perform comprehensive eye examinations for patients of all ages.
  • Diagnose and manage refractive errors, ocular diseases, and vision disorders.
  • Prescribe corrective lenses and other vision correction solutions.
  • Evaluate patients for common eye diseases including glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration.
  • Develop individualized treatment and follow-up care plans.
  • Educate patients regarding eye health, preventative care, and vision management.
  • Refer patients to ophthalmologists or other specialists when medically appropriate.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Utilize portable optometric diagnostic equipment provided by Our Client.
  • Maintain accurate patient medical records and clinical documentation.
  • Perform visual acuity testing and ocular health assessments.
  • Monitor treatment outcomes and adjust care plans when necessary.
  • Maintain compliance with established clinical protocols and quality standards.

Government & Institutional Healthcare

  • Deliver professional optometric services within government-operated healthcare facilities.
  • Provide vision care services in:
    • Correctional Facilities
    • Juvenile Detention Centers
    • County Healthcare Facilities
    • U.S. Military Installations
    • Hospital-Based Institutional Clinics
    • Other Government Healthcare Environments
  • Maintain professionalism while working within secure institutional settings.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams, nursing staff, and facility administrators to coordinate patient care.
Documentation & Compliance

  • Complete all required patient documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations.
  • Follow HIPAA guidelines and all applicable healthcare privacy standards.
  • Maintain current licensure and required certifications.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited Optometry School.

Licensure

  • Active Optometrist License in the applicable state or eligibility to obtain licensure.
  • DEA Registration (if required by assignment).

Experience

  • Previous Optometry experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience within hospitals, government facilities, correctional healthcare, military healthcare, or institutional environments is a plus.
  • New graduates are encouraged to apply where applicable.
