JOB TITLE: OPTICAL STORE CLERK
Position Summary
The OPTICAL STORE CLERK is responsible for welcoming customers, performing retail and clerical duties, entering customer information for walk-ins, scanning valid insurance cards into MVE when applicable, and supporting daily store operations in a team environment.
Primary responsibilities include maintaining inventory, assisting customers with eyewear selections, dispensing eyewear products, and completing end-of-day sales reporting to ensure consistent store profitability.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
Greet and assist customers entering the optical store
Collect demographic information for new customers
For returning customers, verify and update phone number, address, and insurance information (if used for eyewear coverage)
Collect insurance details, co-pays, and outstanding balances when applicable, and scan/file state-issued ID such as a driver's license
Determine the purpose of the customer's visit (e.g., ordering glasses, picking up glasses, frame selection, lens inquiries, adjustments)
Submit end-of-day deposits for balances, dues, and payments to the Office Manager
Sanitize all frames tried by customers before returning them to display
Maintain compliance with privacy and confidentiality regulations (HIPAA when applicable)
Support optical inventory management, product organization, and merchandising
