This individual will support funeral directing, family arrangements, embalming, crematory operations, and overall workflow within a growing funeral home.
Key Responsibilities
Funeral Directing & Family Arrangements
- Meet with families to make at-need arrangements and present service options
- Provide professional and compassionate support to grieving families
- Arrange, coordinate, and direct funeral and memorial services
- Complete all documentation, permits, authorizations, and related paperwork
- Communicate effectively with clergy, cemeteries, vendors, and internal staff
- Perform embalming, restorative work, cosmetics, and preparation
- Maintain a clean, well-stocked, and compliant preparation room
- Dress, casket, and prepare decedents for viewing or services
- Maintain equipment and follow TFSC regulations
- Assist with crematory operations as needed
- Ensure proper chain-of-custody and documentation
- Support scheduling and workflow for cremations and services
- Assist with death certificates, permits, vital statistics, and filing
- Participate in removals and transfers when required
- Maintain accurate case files, records, and communication logs
- Support daily funeral home and cemetery operations as part of a team
- Active Texas Funeral Director and Embalmer License
- Professional appearance and strong communication skills
- Valid Texas driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to lift 80 lbs without assistance
- Strong attendance and reliability
- Willingness to assist with removals as needed
- Embalming experience preferred (new licensees welcome)
- Spanish language skills a plus, not required
- Full-time with variable hours depending on service needs
- Occasional after-hours or weekend responsibilities
- Shared responsibilities with the director team
- Salary: $60,000-$70,000, depending on experience
