Experienced Commercial Construction Superintendent

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Lead Superintendent to oversee commercial construction projects, with a current focus on Federal construction projects in Groton, CT and Chicopee, MA.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of commercial construction supervisory experience, including experience managing projects valued at $10 million or more. The successful candidate must be well versed in all aspects of general construction and capable of coordinating field operations to keep projects on schedule, within quality standards, and in compliance with safety requirements.

The current project is approximately a $15 million office-space renovation, with an anticipated duration of 12-18 months.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the lead field supervisor for commercial and federal construction projects.
• Oversee day-to-day construction activities and coordinate all field operations.
• Manage projects valued at $10M , including complex renovations and general construction.
• Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, trades, and project personnel.
• Maintain project schedules and ensure work progresses according to established milestones.
• Monitor quality, safety, productivity, and compliance throughout project execution.
• Review plans, specifications, schedules, and construction documents.
• Identify and resolve field issues, conflicts, and scheduling challenges.
• Maintain accurate and timely project documentation, reports, and records.
• Communicate effectively with project management, owners, subcontractors, government representatives, and other stakeholders.
• Coordinate multiple trades and activities to minimize delays and maintain project momentum.
• Ensure construction work is performed in accordance with contract requirements, plans, specifications, and applicable codes.
• Participate in project meetings and provide updates on field progress, issues, and schedule.
• Support project closeout and ensure required documentation is completed.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of commercial construction supervisory experience.
• Demonstrated experience managing projects valued at $10 million or more.
• Strong knowledge of general commercial construction and all major construction disciplines.
• Proven experience as a Lead Superintendent / Senior Superintendent.
• Strong project coordination and scheduling skills.
• Excellent documentation, communication, and organizational abilities.
• Strong computer proficiency and ability to use construction/project management software.
• Ability to coordinate multiple subcontractors and trades effectively.
• Strong understanding of construction plans, specifications, schedules, and project documentation.
• OSHA 30 certification required.
• Ability to work in person at the project location.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Federal construction experience strongly preferred.
• Experience working on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers projects.
• Experience with EM 385 safety requirements.
• Army Corps of Engineers Construction Quality Management (CQM) for Contractors certification is a plus.
• Experience managing large-scale renovation projects is highly desirable.
