CNC Field Service Technician

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled CNC Field Service Technician with experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining CNC machinery and automation systems. The ideal candidate will have strong electrical and mechanical diagnostic skills, including experience with PLCs, drives, hydraulics, pneumatics, and machine tool mechanical systems. This role also involves machine retrofits, preventive maintenance, blueprint and schematic interpretation, and customer support. Local travel is required, with occasional nationwide travel for on-site installations and service.

Key Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites locally and nationwide as required to support machine installations, repairs, troubleshooting, service, and maintenance of CNC machinery and automation systems.
• Perform electrical troubleshooting, including wiring, controls, sensors, relays, drives, motors, and PLC-related systems.
• Conduct mechanical repairs and rebuilds involving bearings, ball screws, way systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and spindle components.
• Assist with in-house machine retrofits, rebuilds, and automation integration projects.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Install, test, and calibrate machine components and systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance and machine inspections.
• Operate machine tools and fabrication equipment as required for retrofit and repair work.
• Provide technical support and customer training when needed.
• Maintain accurate service records, reports, and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with company safety standards and customer site requirements.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience in industrial maintenance of machine tools and related systems.
• Experience operating machine tools, performing welding operations, and reverse engineering or sketching mechanical parts.
• Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), electrical systems (low and high voltage), electrical schematics, and control wiring.
• Experience working with hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to accurately read and interpret technical manuals, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints.
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills for diagnosing complex electrical and mechanical issues.
• Previous field service experience with the ability to travel as required.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work safely around high-voltage equipment while following all safety protocols.
• Experience operating lifts such as scissor lifts is preferred.
