Job Description
This position will oversee the design and scope process for each project during its design stage while managing and overseeing a team of designers. Major responsibilities include the oversight and creation of fire alarm and special hazards construction drawings using AutoCAD, along with compiling all accompanying documentation, permit applications, record keeping and as-built drawings. This position will also provide general support to sales estimators and project technicians within the department. You will be expected to assess each design for compliance with applicable NFPA and IBC codes, local Authority Having Jurisdiction requirements, and manufacturer's specifications. An eye for detail, strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to multi-task, and cooperative participation within a team will be crucial in this fast-paced and challenging position.
Qualifications
We are seeking professional candidates with at least 5-10 years of experience in the design of fire alarms systems and/or special hazards and that possess, at a MINIMUM, NICET Level 3 certifications in those fields, with Level 3 in fire alarm being the priority. Level 4 Nicet in Fire Alarm is preferred. Previous working experience and proficiency in 2D drafting with AutoCAD is an absolute requirement. A college education in a field related to engineering, construction or design is preferred. The top candidates will be able to demonstrate a fundamental understanding of low voltage electrical wiring, fire alarm system operations, and life safety code requirements, as well as clear written communication and coherent graphic representation skills. The top candidates must also demonstrate a clear ability to work in a team environment and be a good leader. All candidates must have knowledge of, or experience with, construction plan drawing and drafting, and must possess basic proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
