Our estimators play a crucial role in supporting our ever-growing business by preparing accurate and comprehensive project cost estimates.
Responsibilities
- Project Cost Analysis: Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documents to perform quantity takeoffs and estimate all project costs, including labor, materials, and equipment.
- Analyze labor, material, and time requirements to compute overall project costs.
- Develop comprehensive bids with detailed cost estimates, write and submit proposals to clients and project managers.
- Subcontractor and Vendor Management: Solicit, review, and evaluate bids from subcontractors and vendors to ensure competitive pricing and quality.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with project managers, architects, and subcontractors to gather information and clarify project details.
- Risk Assessment: Review project documents and assess potential risks, such as material cost fluctuations, and incorporate contingency plans into estimates.
- Budget and Schedule Support: Assist in budget preparation for ongoing projects and provide cost information to project teams.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and present reports, budgets, and project plans. Ensure final estimates are accurate and complete before submission.
- Market Research: Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, building codes, and market conditions that can affect project costs.
- Conducting site surveys and scoping.
- Proven experience with a minimum of ten years as an Estimator or in a relevant position within the commercial construction industry.
- Excellent numerical skills and an analytical mindset.
- Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., MS Office, and industry-specific estimating software like BlueBeam, Planswift, Procor, or similar).
- Ability to read and understand technical specifications, blueprints, and project plans.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage client relationships.
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is often preferred.
- Certification such as a Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) from the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) or an equivalent certification.
