A leading steel erection and fabrication company that has been servicing the construction industry for over 60 years is currently seeking an Estimator to join their team in San Leandro, CA. Estimators play an integral role in developing complete estimates and proposals for all assigned projects. Project values typically range from $100,000 to $3,000,000 for miscellaneous metals and $500,000 to $10,000,000 for structural steel. All projects are currently located and constructed in California.This position requires physical presence in the San Leandro office - this is not a telecommuting role.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. This is a job summary and is not intended to be an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required.Essential DutiesReview all bid documents, drawings, and specifications to become familiar with scope of work prior to starting scope letter and estimate.Develop scope letter and send to general contractors prior to bid day.Take off all material, labor, and equipment using Fabtrol, Excel, and company estimating standards.Communicate and verify scope with general contractors/customers as necessary prior to bid.Manage time to complete bid with sufficient time for thorough review.Review bid with the company Chief Estimator and/or President prior to bid release.Send out bid price to general contractors/customers prior to closing bid time.Follow up with all general contractors/customers post-bid.Foster relationships with key vendors, general contractors, subcontractors, etc.Write up project turnover data sheet and review successful bids with assigned project managers.Review and price out all change order requests or revisions that exceed a realistic value-to-workload ratio.EducationMinimum requirement: High School Diploma or equivalentRequirements / Desired SkillsProven experience in the construction industry; estimating and bidding preferredStrong organizational, written, and oral communication skillsExcellent time-management abilitiesAbility to communicate effectively with general contractors and customersStrong math and analytical skills
Salary : $60,000 - $120,000
