Position Title: Kindergarten Education Support Professional (ESP)
Reports To: Building Principal, Assistant Principal and Classroom Teacher
Position Summary:
The Kindergarten Education Support Professional (ESP) assists the classroom teacher in providing a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment for kindergarten students. The ESP works collaboratively with teachers and staff to support students’ academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and physical needs throughout the school day.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation of daily classroom instruction and routines under the direction of the classroom teacher.
- Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce academic skills and classroom expectations.
- Assist students with literacy, math, social-emotional learning, and classroom activities.
- Help maintain a positive, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Support students during transitions, specials, lunch, recess, arrival, and dismissal.
- Assist with classroom organization, preparation of instructional materials, and maintenance of learning spaces.
- Reinforce behavioral expectations and support positive student behavior using school-based strategies and interventions.
- Provide supervision to ensure student safety at all times.
- Support students with personal care needs as required, including toileting, dressing, feeding, or mobility assistance, in accordance with student plans and district policies.
- Collaborate with teachers, specialists, counselors, and administrators to support student success.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and records.
- Participate in professional development and training opportunities as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or supervising teacher.
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or proof of passing score on the ETS ParaPro Assessment.
- Experience working with young children in a school or childcare setting preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with students, staff, and families.
- Demonstrated patience, flexibility, and positive interpersonal skills.
- Ability to support students with varying academic, behavioral, and developmental needs.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to actively supervise and engage with young children throughout the school day.
- Ability to lift, bend, kneel, and assist students as needed.
- Ability to move throughout the building and playground areas.
Terms of Employment:
- School-year position in accordance with district calendar and collective bargaining agreement, if applicable.
- Salary and benefits established by district policy and/or negotiated agreement.
Salary : $19,416 - $35,659
