Description Summary:
The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for compiling and recording employee time and payroll data for the entire organization. He/she may compute employees’ time worked, production, and commissions. This individual may also compute and post wages and deductions or prepare paychecks. He/she makes suggestions in the decision making and exercises independent judgment with the preparation and calculation of paychecks. The Payroll Coordinator typically exercises substantial discretion under limited supervision and expected to work long hours and subject to working as long as necessary to perform his/her job responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Payroll Administration and Payroll Processing, with experience managing end-to-end payroll cycles.
- Knowledge of Garnishments and Payroll Taxes, including proper calculation, documentation, and compliance with applicable regulations.
- Basic to intermediate Accounting skills to reconcile payroll data, journal entries, and reports.
- Attention to detail, strong numerical accuracy, and proficiency with payroll systems and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with employees, supervisors, HR, and accounting.
- Prior experience in payroll coordination or a related administrative role; experience in construction, industrial services, or equipment rental is a plus.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework or certification in payroll or accounting is preferred.
