Job Title: Cybersecurity Specialist
Job Summary:The Cybersecurity Specialist ensures the security of the organization's information systems by implementing security measures, monitoring for security breaches, and responding to security incidents. This role involves evaluating the security landscape, developing security protocols, and working closely with IT and other departments to maintain and enhance cybersecurity.· Monitor network traffic for suspicious activity and promptly respond to security breaches and other incidents through thorough investigation.· Develop and deliver cyber awareness training to increase cyber security maturity and organisational preparedness. · Conduct risk assessments, develop mitigation strategies, and implement security controls to protect against unauthorized access and data breaches.· Configure and manage security tools, perform regular updates, and oversee the installation and configuration of security systems to maintain system integrity.· Collaborate with IT teams to design secure network architecture, recommend and implement security enhancements, and evaluate security solutions.· Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, prepare and present security reports to management, and maintain documentation of security policies and incidents.· Stay informed on cybersecurity trends, research and implement new security tools, and participate in professional development to enhance security practices.Qualifications and Skills:Education: Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cyber Security, or a related field.Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), CompTIA Security , GSEC or similar.Knowledge of NIST SP 800 series security controlsStrong understanding of network security, firewalls, operating systems, and security tools.Ability to analyze security issues and develop effective solutions.Excellent verbal and written communication skills for policy development and incident reporting.Ability to work collaboratively with IT teams and other departments.Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.Experience working with Risk Management Framework (RMF)Work Environment:Primarily office-based with potential for remote work depending on the organization.May require occasional travel for training, conferences, multi-site security assessments, or production enviroments.On-call availability may be necessary for handling security incidents outside regular working hours.Career Path:Advancement Opportunities: Senior IT Security Specialist, IT Security Assistant Manager, and IT Security Manager.Continued Education: Opportunities for advanced certifications and specializations in cybersecurity.
