Are you looking for an exciting, hands-on job where no two days are the same? Do you want to work behind the scenes on major productions, live concerts, theater shows, and campus-wide events? Join the Technical Production Team at Vermont State University Castleton and become a part of the action!

From rock concerts to live theater, sports events, and video-mapped productions, our team makes it all happen. This is your chance to learn how to run professional-grade lighting and sound, build epic sets, and even experiment with video projection mapping to create jaw-dropping visual experiences!

What You’ll Do:

* Run the Show! Operate stage lighting, soundboards, and video equipment for live events.

* Build & Design! Help construct sets, hang lights, and set up staging for theater productions and concerts.

* Master Special Effects! Work with video mapping to project mind-blowing visuals on stage, walls, and even actors.

* Tech for All Events! Support Fall and Spring Main Stage Productions, Black Box Theater performances, Soundings events, visiting artists, shows at Fireside Café, events at the Pavilion, and sports awards events and banquets at Glenbrook Gymnasium.

* Rig It Up! Climb catwalks, rig lighting, and work hands-on with high-tech equipment.

* Get Exclusive Experience! Learn to use professional theater gear like intelligent moving lights, LED walls, video switching systems, and professional audio consoles.

* Be Part of the Crew! Work alongside industry professionals and fellow students to make every event an unforgettable experience.

Qualifications:

* Must be a current student at Vermont State Colleges System.

* Able to lift 50 lbs and comfortable with heights (working on ladders, catwalks, and grids).

* Passion for theater, live events, or technology—no experience needed; we’ll train you!

* Willingness to learn, take direction, and work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.

* Bonus Skills (Not Required but Awesome to Have!): Experience with video projection mapping, sound mixing, stage management, or set design/building.

The Casella Theater at Vermont State University Castleton is a Broadway-Level Adjacent performance space, meaning it boasts the same technical capabilities and production values found in major professional theaters. With a fully-equipped fly system, intelligent lighting rigs, a state-of-the-art sound system, and a versatile stage setup, this venue allows students to work in an environment that mirrors high-end commercial theater productions. Cutting-edge video mapping technology adds a dynamic visual dimension to performances, immersing audiences in breathtaking scenic transformations.

In addition to its advanced stage and lighting systems, the Casella Theater features a full orchestra pit with a hydraulic lift, allowing for seamless transitions between different stage configurations. Performers and crew members also benefit from a dedicated Green Room, private dressing rooms, and an attached professional scenic shop, providing the perfect space for set construction and design work. Each spring, the Casella Theater comes alive with a full-scale musical production featuring dazzling lights, immersive sound, and breathtaking set designs. This isn’t just any college musical—it's a Broadway-level spectacle with wireless microphone systems used in professional productions, stunning video mapping effects, and a powerful sound and lighting rig to bring the show to life. The Fall Play:

The fall semester showcases a thought-provoking, high-quality play, offering students the chance to explore dramatic storytelling through cutting-edge technical production. The team gets to design and execute intricate set changes, creative lighting and sound effects, and innovative stagecraft that bring the script to life. Experimental Theater in the Black Box Theater:
