What are the responsibilities and job description for the Academic Support/TRIO Assistant-Student Employment (Workstudy Eligibility Preferred) position at VTSU?
Basic Function:
Work with the Academic Support/TRIO staff to assist with services and supports offered. Direct visitors and students to resources. Plan, organize, and oversee activities and events. Promote activities and events, including oversight of Academic Support/TRIO social media platforms. Complete general office projects as assigned. Assist with the overall objectives of the TRIO program, including recruitment, retention, and good academic standing.
Expectations:
The office assistant needs to be both dependable and organized. They should have strengths in the area of innovation and creativity and show a high level of engagement and motivation for the work of the program. The office assistant works to maintain a clean and tidy work area, both the student office if one is available, as well as the overall allocated TRIO space. Unless they are paid through work-study funds, the office assistant is expected to be actively working on projects during work time as opposed to personal work. They must adhere to confidentiality practices and expectations. Student staff are expected to use and respond within our Teams site.
Qualifications:
Be an active TRIO student.
Notice:
This is a yearly contract, which must be reapplied for each year. A formal yearly evaluation will be conducted as well as regular check-ins with the supervisor to ensure that expectations are known and communicated, and any issues can be resolved in a timely manner.
Direct supervision is received from the Director of TRIO or designee.
