Duties
- Receive, inspect, and assemble surgical instruments and medical devices for sterilization.
- Operate sterilization equipment such as autoclaves, sterilizers, and washer-disinfectors following strict protocols.
- Maintain accurate inventory management of sterile supplies, ensuring proper stock levels and documentation.
- Clean, disinfect, and package instruments using aseptic techniques to prevent contamination.
- Track instrument processing cycles, verify sterilization parameters, and document all procedures meticulously.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure timely delivery of sterile instruments for scheduled surgeries.
- Follow all safety guidelines related to handling biohazardous materials and maintaining a sterile environment.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology to understand the use and handling of various surgical instruments.
- Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to surgical procedures and instrument identification.
- Experience in sterile processing or a related healthcare environment is preferred.
- Strong understanding of aseptic techniques to prevent infection risks during instrument handling.
- Ability to manage inventory efficiently, including tracking supplies and ordering replacements as needed.
