What are the responsibilities and job description for the Component Technician I (283) position at VSE AVIATION?
UMMARY: The Component technician is responsible for the repair and overhaul aviation components while maintaining a safe work environment. The technician will perform maintenance and alteration tasks on civil aviation articles in accordance with the current technical data provided in the manufacturers’ Instructions for Continued Airworthiness, Services Bulletins, service letters, Airworthiness Directives, government and industry standard practices, and other data acceptable to or approved by the FAA.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Disassemble aviation components, including brakes, wheels, hydraulics, landing gears, etc.
- Assemble aviation components with supervisor/assigned trainer.
- Utilize hand tools daily.
- Utilize specialty tools for precision measurements daily.
- Read and interpret component maintenance manuals (CMMs).
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with approved technical and regulatory data.
- Document maintenance records of all repair work orders performed.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma/GED equivalent.
- 1-3 years of relevant/technical work experience.
- Internal experience counts as 2 years of experience as it relates to meeting the requirements of a role.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Be detail oriented and organized.
- Ability to teardown and assemble aviation components.
- Be flexible to changing workloads/priorities based on customer requirements.
- Maintain an orderly and productive work environment.
- Ability to function in fast paced environment while maintaining a high level of quality.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and data required.
- Willing to work additional hours when operational objectives require it.
- Ability to prioritize and to work without close supervision.
- Basic computer operating skills.
- Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- 3 years of relevant/technical experience in the aviation industry.
