Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dependable Maintenance Technician to join our Cannabis Cultivation Facilities Team at VS Kentucky. This role requires a skilled professional who can independently diagnose, repair, and maintain complex building systems and equipment, ensuring optimal facility operations and adherence to safety standards in our state-of-the-art cultivation environment.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Maintenance & Repairs

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
  • Perform advanced preventive maintenance on industrial equipment, machinery, and building systems.
  • Conduct comprehensive facility inspections using diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
  • Execute planned maintenance schedules and document system performance metrics to ensure optimal system operation.
  • Analyze equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence

Systems Management

  • Maintain and calibrate building automation systems (BAS) and control panels.
  • Monitor and optimize energy management systems for efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Perform electrical work, including motor controls, circuit analysis, and power distribution troubleshooting.
  • Service and repair pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
  • Maintain fire safety systems, emergency equipment, and security infrastructure

Project Leadership & Coordination

  • Lead facility improvement projects from planning through completion
  • Coordinate with engineering teams, contractors, and vendors for major repairs and installations
  • Develop maintenance procedures and technical documentation
  • Train junior maintenance staff on equipment operation and safety protocols
  • Manage maintenance inventory, procurement, and cost control

Emergency Response & Safety

  • Serve as primary responder for critical system failures and emergency situations
  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours and weekend emergency coverage.
  • Ensure strict compliance with OSHA regulations, building codes, and safety standards.
  • Conduct safety assessments and implement risk mitigation strategies
  • Maintain and inspect safety equipment, including eyewash stations, fire extinguishers, and emergency lighting

Additional Duties

  • Perform structural repairs including advanced carpentry, welding, and fabrication work.
  • Manage seasonal operations, including snow removal, grounds maintenance, and exterior building care.
  • Support facility events through setup, breakdown, and specialized equipment operation
  • Maintain detailed maintenance logs, work orders, and equipment histories in CMMS
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly and work in confined spaces

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in industrial or commercial facility maintenance
  • Demonstrated expertise in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems
  • Proficiency with power tools, diagnostic equipment, and computerized maintenance systems
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain necessary trade certifications
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with all organizational levels

Preferred Qualifications

  • Trade certifications in electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or related fields
  • Experience with building automation systems and energy management
  • Familiarity with welding, machining, or fabrication techniques
  • Knowledge of industrial safety regulations and environmental compliance
  • Previous supervisory or training experience

Working Conditions

  • Full-time position with occasional overtime and emergency call-outs
  • Work performed in various environments, including mechanical rooms, rooftops, and outdoor locations
  • Exposure to mechanical hazards, electrical systems, and varying weather conditions
  • Physical demands include climbing, crawling, lifting, and extended periods of standing
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and work in confined spaces

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 per hour
