Duties
- Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and standards, ensuring quality and presentation are top-notch
- Assist in menu planning by providing input on ingredient availability and preparation techniques
- Handle food with care, adhering strictly to food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment
- Support food preparation activities such as chopping, marinating, portioning, and assembling ingredients for service
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives, ovens, grills, and fryers with excellent knife skills
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely meal service and smooth kitchen operations
- Maintain a clean workstation by regularly sanitizing surfaces, utensils, and tools throughout shifts
Experience
- Prior experience in food handling within a restaurant or catering setting is highly desirable
- Demonstrated culinary experience with knowledge of cooking techniques and meal preparation processes
- Familiarity with dietary department standards or dietary aide experience is a plus
- Proven ability to work efficiently in high-pressure environments while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong understanding of food safety protocols and proper food handling procedures
- Experience in the food industry that includes kitchen experience, food service, or restaurant roles enhances your candidacy
- Excellent knife skills and proficiency in meal preparation are essential for success in this role
- Will require food handler’s certification.
