General Function
The RISE Club / Youth Sports Director provides excellent customer service while managing the Rise club and youth sports assisting with the production of quality programming. The RISE Club / Youth Sports Director creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with the YMCA of Volusia Flagler policies and procedures. The RISE Club / Youth Sports Director will continue to grow our RISE Club & youth sports programs at the DeLand Family YMCA.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and manage the club & youth sports budget, including setting fees and tracking expenses.
- Create and manage practice and game schedules
- Oversee the maintenance and acquisition of all equipment.
- Will keep a clean & organized sports room.
- Ensure the club adheres to relevant league, association and facility regulations.
- Attend any club tournaments and team events as assigned.
- Maintain open communication with coaches, parents, players and Family Center staff, addressing concerns and providing updates.
- Coordinate and set up of any/all VFYMCA hosted club tournaments or team events as needed and budgeted.
- Support coaches through training, mentorship and professional development opportunities.
- Follow and promote all facility and club policies and procedures as needed.
- Respond to all parental emails within 24 hours.
- Create and develop effective relationships with the members, participants, and other staff.
- Take a lead role in the evaluation, placement, and registration of new and potential participants.
- Organize and publish ongoing forms of team communication for all RISE Sports & youth sports to include but not limited to newsletters, social media, bulletin boards, etc.
- Perform equipment checks and ensure appropriate equipment is available as needed.
- Know, understand, and consistently apply safety rules, policies and guidelines for RISE Sports.
- Know and review all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with the YMCA of Volusia Flagler policies and procedures.
- Attend all staff meetings, monthly in-services and trainings as required.
- Promote and represent the mission and core values of the YMCA of Volusia Flagler in the Family Center and its programs.
- All other duties assigned by Management.
Job Requirements
To be successful, you must meet education, training, and experience requirements, and you must be able to demonstrate some critical knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Education, Training and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.
- Previous Volleyball Coaching experience preferred, knowledge of basketball and soccer.
- Previous customer service experience preferred.
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
- Current USAV certs required and current AAU certification also.
Knowledge, Attitude, Skills, and Habits
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent follow through actions regarding communication.
- Desire and ability to work with people of all ages.
- Demonstrated responsibility and dependability.
- Must exhibit patience, sensitivity and understanding.
Working Conditions
- Must be willing to regularly work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Must have knowledge in Volleyball, basketball and soccer. Coaching experience in Volleyball preferred.
- May be required to sit, stand, or maintain physical activity for extended periods of time including continuous physical endurance for thirty to sixty minutes of aerobic activity.
- Must be alert at all times, keeping safety in mind. Must possess acceptable hearing and visual capabilities in order to monitor environment and members’ well-being.
- Must possess auditory, verbal, and visual capabilities in order to adequately communicate via phone and in person.
