JOB SUMMARY
The Human Resources Generalist will oversee and assist with a variety of full life cycle HR tasks in accordance with Volunteers of America of Upstate New York’s values.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBIITIES

Recruitment: Oversees the entire talent management life cycle. Creates job postings and comprehensive job descriptions, in partnership with hiring managers. Assists with phone screens and in-person interviews, as needed.

Onboarding: Responsible for creating offer letters and ensuring appropriate pre-employment screenings are completed, depending on the department, prior to date of hire.

Orientation: Completes new hire orientation and ensures all necessary paperwork is completed, correct, and done timely for all employees. Provides first day HR trainings and completes 90 day check-ins.

Employee Relations: Assists HR Manager with employee relation issues, such as employee coaching conversations or complaints.

Payroll: Responsible for completing payroll accurately. Provides pre-processed payroll to HR Manager for final approval prior to processing. Responsible for all other HR functions attached with payroll: entering new hires, terminations, verifications of employment, security access issues, etc.

Terminations: Responsible for sending out termination paperwork to employees and appropriately terminating all benefits, if any.

Benefits: Responsible for all employee benefits, including, medical, dental, vision, employee assistance program, life & accidental death and dismemberment, long term disability, short term disability, NYS Paid Family Leave, Federal Medical Leave Act, etc.

Administrative: Responsible for maintaining employee files as required by law. Responsible for completing billing as it relates to benefits.

Responsible for completing all compliance based reporting such a Multiple Worksite, EEO-1, ACA, OSHA, etc.

Responsible for completing all verifications of employment and other employee inquires.

Other duties as directed by supervisor
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in human resources or another related field, preferred

1 year minimum experience in human resources

1 – 2 year minimum experience processing payroll

Strong computer skills with the ability to work with Word, Excel and Outlook Express

Strong interpersonal communication skills
