Benefit Specialist (Client Services)
Summary:
The Benefits Specialist supports clients at the One Stop Day Shelter by assisting them with applying for and maintaining public benefits, including SNAP, Medicaid, and SSI/SSDI. This role focuses on reducing barriers to access by providing hands-on application support, documentation guidance, and coordination with partner agencies. The Benefits Specialist plays a critical role in helping clients achieve stability by connecting them to essential resources
Position Type:
Full Time, Non-Exempt
Essential Functions
- Assist client at the One Stop Day Shelter with completing applications for SNAP, Medicaid, SSI/SSDI, and other public benefits.
- Provide one-on-one support to gather required documentation (ID’s, income verification, medical records etc.)
- Help clients understand eligibility requirements and application process
- Submit application and tract progress to ensure timely processing
- Following all guidelines & procedures related to EZ Labor (clocking in& out, reviewing timecards, requesting edit sheets, etc.)
- Maintain training requirements

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities
Required Education and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in the Human Service Field, and one-year experience working with homeless population and/or individuals with disabilities is required. Must have valid driver’s license and current vehicle insurance.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee can sometimes be exposed to weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
