Shift Details: Full-time – 40 hours/week
Schedule: Overnights - between the hours of 10:00pm-8:00am with flexibility required for a 24 hour facility, some evening and weekend hours to be expected
Compensation: $55,000-$60,000 annual salary

About the job:
The Unit Supervisor is responsible for the overnight operation of the living unit, providing leadership, supervision, and clinical-minded oversight to ensure a safe, trauma-informed, therapeutic, and structured environment. This role ensures unit operations align with organizational values, best practices in youth residential treatment, regulatory standards, and a culture of professional excellence and accountability.
Essentials:

Leadership & Supervision

  • Provide consistent, supportive, and trauma-informed supervision to overnight residential staff, modeling professionalism, emotional regulation, and therapeutic engagement.
  • Schedule, manage, and supervise overnight residential staff, including 1:1 supervision, coaching, corrective action, and performance evaluations.
  • Promote staff practice is youth-centered, strengths-based, culturally responsive, and aligned with treatment goals.
  • Foster a culture of standards of excellence, ethical practice, and continuous quality improvement.

Therapeutic & Best-Practice Implementation

  • Ensure unit operations reflect evidence-based and best practice standards in youth residential treatment.
  • Coach and monitor staff use of approved crisis intervention techniques (e.g. Handle With Care) with a focus on safety, dignity, and least-restrictive interventions.
  • Support staff in understanding trauma responses and applying trauma-informed approaches during overnight care and crisis response.

Safety, Compliance, & Quality Assurance

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly living environment that promotes emotional and physical safety for youth and staff.
  • Conduct and coordinate walkthroughs, safety searches, room switches, and facility monitoring.
  • Participate in drills, audits, and compliance activities related to CARF accreditation and licensing requirements.
  • Complete planned and random quality assurance camera for reviews for safety, documentation quality, and incident review.
  • Review, approve, and audit residential documentation in Credible to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and clinical appropriateness.
  • Adhere to HIPAA privacy, security, and confidentiality standards at all times.

Collaboration & Administrative Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the Program Manager, Operations Support Specialist, and interdisciplinary team to ensure consistent program implementation.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources regarding payroll, staffing concerns, and personnel documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date staffing and training records for residential counselors.

Decision Making & Initiative

  • Enforce, evaluate, and support implementation of organizational policies and procedures.
  • Provide input into short- and long-term operational planning in collaboration with program leadership.
  • Participate in the ASP on-call rotation.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • BA/BS or equivalent experience.
  • MN Statute 245I Mental Health Practitioner qualification.
  • At least 1 year of successful leadership experience demonstrated in the mental health field, previous experience working with children/adolescents in residential treatment or related therapeutic setting, preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of trauma-informed care, professional boundaries, and best practices in youth services.
  • Must be 21 year of age or older with a current and valid Driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
