What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wetland Warriors position at Volunteer Marlborough?
Enhancing the habitat for fish and bird life and enabling gathering of food and encouraging recreational uses by:
Volunteers of any age are welcome to apply. However, volunteers under 16 should be accompanied by an adult, at least for the first few sessions.
Grovetown Lagoon Restoration Project (https://www.grovetown.co.nz/) is a community project connecting all sorts of people working steadily to restore a very special freshwater wetland so everyone can enjoy a shady rest, walk, picnic, kayak and relish the serenity of this sanctuary (and the hundreds of birds that live there!).

Requirements
Gardening skills and interest in conservation and the environment required. Other training will be provided.
Bring a hat, sunscreen, safe footwear, etc. You are welcome to bring your own tools but this is not necessary.

Wednesdays 9:30 - 11:30

Getting Started
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
- Providing protection for newly planted trees
- Removing weeds
- Clearing paths
- Ensuring birds have nesting and food requirements
- Planting seeds and caring for plants in the shade house
- Predator control (checking trap lines)
- Maintenance of shade house
