What are the responsibilities and job description for the Founding Operations Lead & EA position at Voltify?
Who We Are
At Voltify, we're building the next generation of freight rail: battery locomotives that fast charge while moving, powered by a self-sustaining microgrid network. We're lowering rail's largest expense (energy) by more than 20% and eliminating the industry's dependency on fossil fuels.
We have $50M in contingent orders from the largest global rail companies and $30M raised from top tier funds and strategics. Our founding team has built public billion-dollar companies in renewable energy and infrastructure before.
About The Role
We are looking for a Founding Operations Lead and Executive Assistant. A preternaturally sharp generalist who will work directly alongside the founding team, run the founders' day-to-day, and own the operational surface area of the company.
This is the role for the kind of person who would take a year off from Harvard to work on something that mattered. You are not looking for an easy 9 to 5. You are looking for proximity to a hard problem, a founding team that has done this before, and the chance to operate with real ownership.
You will run the founders' calendars and communications, making sure nothing slips and every hour is spent on what matters most. You will run procurement and vendor relationships. You will clean up the systems that hold the company together and build the ones we don't have yet. You will do whatever the week demands, with taste.
We are looking for someone allergic to sloppy work, who holds themselves to a higher standard than we would, and treats every detail as a reflection of the company. If you want to be at the center of a company that will shape an industry for decades, working directly with founders who have built billion-dollar companies before, we want to talk.
What You'll Do
- Work directly alongside the CEO and founding team as a trusted operator
- Manage the founders' calendars, inboxes, and communications, protecting their time and making sure nothing falls through
- Proactively secure meetings with the people we need to move forward, and keep pushing until they happen
- Own end-to-end procurement: source vendors, run quotes, manage ordering, track delivery
- Manage and improve the internal systems that keep the company running. The tools, processes, and workflows that will otherwise decay as we grow
- Manage relationships with vendors, freelancers, and service providers
- Own whatever the week demands
What We're Looking For
- Exceptionally sharp. You pick up new domains quickly and hold your own in any room
- Obvious taste. We give you a problem and your work product is noticeably thought through and better than others would've done it
- High agency. You would rather figure it out than ask permission
- Relentless on follow-through. You close loops, you don't drop balls, and things get done when they land with you
- Excellent written communication. You can represent the founders externally without supervision
- Track record that demonstrates rather than claims the above. What you built in college, the company you started, the team you took over
We offer a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits, and a seat at the center of a generational company. This is full-time.
