As we expand our retail channel, we are building an internal account management team to support our National Account Manager and ensure outstanding execution across our growing portfolio of retail partners.

Position Summary

The Account Manager – Retail is an office-based support role that works closely with the National Account Manager to drive retail execution, manage account operations, and ensure Volt Lighting’s retail programs are delivered with precision and consistency. This position is the operational backbone of the retail sales function — managing the flow of information between internal teams and retail partners, tracking performance metrics, coordinating program execution, and ensuring the National Account Manager is equipped to win in every buyer meeting and account review. The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytically minded, and a strong communicator who thrives in a collaborative environment and takes pride in getting the details right.

Key Responsibilities

Account Operations & Program Support

  • Serve as the primary internal point of contact for day-to-day account operations across assigned retail accounts, managing communication, follow-ups, and issue resolution on behalf of the National Account Manager.
  • Coordinate the execution of promotional programs, seasonal assortment changes, new item launches, and planogram updates by working cross-functionally with Marketing, Supply Chain, and Operations.
  • Prepare and maintain account-specific documentation including program summaries, pricing files, promotional calendars, and retailer submission forms.
  • Track deadlines, deliverables, and retailer requirements (e.g., vendor portal submissions, EDI confirmations, compliance documentation) to ensure nothing falls through the cracks.
  • Manage retailer vendor portals and internal systems to keep account data, item setups, and program records current and accurate.

Sales Analytics & Reporting

  • Pull, organize, and analyze POS data, sell-through reports, and inventory reports on a regular cadence to track account performance against goals.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly account performance summaries for the National Account Manager, flagging trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Support line review and business review preparation by compiling sales data, competitive analysis, and presentation materials.
  • Maintain dashboards and scorecards that give the National Account Manager a clear, current view of account health across all retail partners.
  • Monitor retailer inventory levels and in-stock rates, alerting Supply Chain and the NAM when replenishment action is needed.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Act as the internal liaison between the National Account Manager and cross-functional teams including Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Customer Service to ensure retail programs are executed on time and on budget.
  • Coordinate with Marketing on the production and delivery of retail-specific assets including POP displays, planograms, sell sheets, and digital content.
  • Work with Supply Chain and Customer Service to monitor order status, resolve fulfillment issues, and communicate updates to retail partners.
  • Partner with Finance to track promotional spending, validate co-op/MDF claims, and support margin and profitability analysis by account.
  • Communicate retailer feedback, product performance observations, and operational insights to the appropriate internal teams.

Retailer Communication & Relationship Support

  • Serve as a responsive, professional point of contact for retail account coordinators, replenishment teams, and vendor relations contacts on routine operational matters.
  • Draft correspondence, retailer submissions, and internal briefs on behalf of the National Account Manager as needed.
  • Coordinate logistics and prepare materials for buyer meetings, trade shows, line reviews, and account business reviews.
  • Maintain organized records of account communications, agreements, and program history to support continuity and informed decision-making.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2–4 years of experience in account management support, sales operations, B2C, or a related internal sales/commercial role.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience pulling and interpreting sales or retail performance data.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable corresponding professionally with retail partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and PowerPoint in particular) and CRM platforms (HubSpot preferred).
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.

Preferred

  • Experience in the lighting, electrical, home improvement, or building products industry.
  • Familiarity with retail vendor portals, EDI processes, and supply chain requirements for major retail accounts (e.g., Home Depot, Lowe’s, Costco).
  • Experience supporting a National Account Manager or senior sales leader in a retail or consumer products environment.
  • Knowledge of retail category management, planogramming, and promotional program mechanics.
  • Experience with retail analytics tools or POS reporting platforms.
  • Understanding of promotional funding processes.
