Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Lead Solar Installer to oversee and execute the solar portion of residential and light commercial photovoltaic (PV) installations. This role requires a hands-on leader who can independently complete the solar scope of work while guiding a crew, solving on-site challenges, and ensuring installations meet quality, safety, and code standards.
The ideal candidate is a strong installer, team leader, and problem solver with proven experience in full solar system installations.
Job Duties & ResponsibilitiesInstallation & Technical Responsibilities
- Lead and complete the solar side of installations from start to finish
- Install roof and ground mount systems, including:
- Layout and installation of feet, flashings, and attachments
- Assembly and installation of racking systems
- Install and secure solar modules according to plans and specifications
- Perform DC wiring, wire management, and conduit runs
- Install inverters, optimizers, and other balance-of-system components (solar scope only)
- Read and interpret plans, layouts, and permit drawings
- Ensure all work meets NEC, local codes, and manufacturer requirements
Leadership & Crew Management
- Serve as the on-site lead for solar installation crews
- Assign tasks and direct installers to ensure efficiency and quality
- Train and mentor junior installers and helpers
- Maintain a productive, professional jobsite environment
Quality, Safety & Problem Solving
- Identify and resolve on-site installation challenges and design discrepancies
- Perform quality checks to ensure clean, safe, and durable installations
- Enforce jobsite safety protocols and OSHA standards
- Communicate issues clearly with project managers, electricians, and operations teams
Required Experience & Qualifications
- 1 years of hands-on solar installation experience (residential required; commercial a plus)
- Proven ability to:
- Install feet and flashing systems
- Lay out and install racking systems
- Complete DC wiring and solar equipment installation
- Experience leading or supervising a solar crew
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and understand solar plans and electrical diagrams
- Comfortable working on roofs and at heights
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Preferred (Nice to Have)
- NABCEP certification (or working toward it)
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
- Experience with multiple racking and inverter manufacturers
