Position Overview
We are seeking experienced Fiber Splicers to join a large-scale hyperscale data center project in Abilene, TX. This is a high-demand, technically rigorous role requiring proven expertise in ribbon fusion splicing and hands-on data center experience. Qualified candidates will play a critical role in deploying the high-density fiber infrastructure that powers next-generation hyperscale computing environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform ribbon fusion splicing (mass fusion) using Fujikura 90R or equivalent splicers
• Work with 12F and 16F ribbon fiber (200µm / 250µm pitch) and high-count cables (144F, 288F, 864F )
• Execute fiber routing, ribbon breakout, and build-up in high-density environments
• Operate within Meet-Me Rooms (MMR), Main Distribution Areas (MDA), and Intermediate Distribution Areas (IDA)
• Install and manage fiber raceways, ladder racks, trays, patch panels, LIUs, cassettes, and high-density enclosures
• Maintain strict cable management and labeling standards per project specifications
• Operate and maintain precision cleavers, thermal strippers, and inspection scopes
• Interpret and follow project drawings, fiber schedules, and technical documentation
Required Qualifications
Core Technical Skills
• Proven experience with ribbon fusion splicing (mass fusion) in data center environments
• Hands-on experience with Fujikura 90R (V-groove) or equivalent ribbon splicers
• Proficiency with 12F / 16F ribbon fiber at 200µm and 250µm pitch
• Experience handling high-count fiber cables (144F, 288F, 864F )
• Strong understanding of fiber color codes and ribbon management
• Experience with ribbon breakout / build-up and high-density fiber routing
Data Center / ISP Experience
• Experience working inside live or new-build data centers
• Familiarity with MMR, MDA, and IDA environments
• Experience with fiber raceways, ladder racks, trays, patch panels, LIUs, and cassettes
• Ability to adhere to strict cable management and labeling standards
Tools & Equipment
• Proficient with fusion splicers (Fujikura 90R preferred), precision cleavers, thermal strippers, and inspection scopes
• Ability to maintain and calibrate splicing equipment in the field
